Green, Sr. Pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, President of the 2019 Movement & former Chairman, 400 Years African American Commission; Rev. Dr. Betty Lancaster-Short, President of Washington, D.C. American Mothers; and filmmaker Debbie Wright will honor the memory of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s call to let freedom ring by premiering the groundbreaking and 10-time award-winning documentary film, From Liberty to Captivity (FLTC), about slavery then, slavery now, and the abolitionists fighting to end it.
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is hosting two free screenings of the documentary on Friday, January 24, 2020, (following a press conference from 10:10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.) at 11:00 a.m. and at 2:30 p.m. in partnership with Dr. Randy Short and Debbie Wright, who directed and produced the documentary.
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation is the leading national organization exposing the links between all forms of sexual exploitation such as child sexual abuse, prostitution, sex trafficking and the public health crisis of pornography. As the thread of pornography in the web of sexual exploitation is systemically overlooked by society, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation has prominently advanced this issue as a central pillar of its projects in order to promote more holistic solutions. NCOSE is a non-partisan non-profit that embraces a mission to defend human dignity and to oppose sexual exploitation.
Following both screenings of the film, a moderator and distinguished panelists will hold question and answer sessions.
For persons unable to attend the work hour screenings on the 24th, there will be follow-up viewings and meetings in the greater DMV.
